Product Introduction
Ferrochrome alloy is an iron alloy primarily composed of chromium and iron, containing 50%-70% chromium. It serves as a core alloy additive in the steelmaking industry. Ferrochrome is classified by carbon content into high-carbon, medium-carbon, low-carbon, and micro-carbon ferrochrome.
Ferrochrome typically appears grayish-white with a glossy, uniform, and dense surface. When an oxide layer forms on the surface, it exhibits a dark gray color.
Ferrochrome has a hardness of 5.5-6.5 and a specific gravity (density) of 4.3-4.8. However, these values may vary depending on the specific composition and manufacturing process of the ferrochrome.

High Carbon Ferrochrome (HC FeCr):
Composition: High carbon ferrochrome typically contains around 60-75% chromium, 6-8% carbon, and the rest is primarily iron. It has a higher carbon content compared to other types of ferrochrome.
Application: HC FeCr is commonly used in the production of stainless steel, alloy steel, and tool steel.
Medium Carbon Ferrochrome (MC FeCr):
Composition: Medium carbon ferrochrome generally contains 60-65% chromium and 6-8% carbon, along with other elements. It has a carbon content intermediate between high carbon and low carbon ferrochrome.
Application: MC FeCr is used in stainless steel production and other alloy steel applications where a balance between carbon content and other alloying elements is required.
Low Carbon Ferrochrome (LC FeCr):
Composition: Low carbon ferrochrome typically contains 60-70% chromium, with a carbon content kept below 0.10% or even lower. It has a much lower carbon content compared to high carbon ferrochrome.
Application: LC FeCr is widely used in the production of stainless steel, where low carbon levels are crucial to maintaining corrosion resistance.
